The Congress on Sunday (April 19, 2026) demanded immediate implementation of women’s reservation on the existing Lok Sabha strength, as it staged a protest against the Modi government, accusing it of deliberately delaying women’s quota for political reasons.

The protest by the Delhi Pradesh Congress Committee comes two days after the Constitution (131st Amendment) Bill to implement 33% reservation for women in legislatures in 2029 and increase the number of Lok Sabha seats to 816 was defeated in the Lok Sabha.
