All India Congress Committee observer Ravindra Das said on Wednesday that the Congress Party’s strength at grassroots level remains intact in spite of its consecutive defeats in the general elections held in 2014, 2019, and 2024.

Speaking to The Hindu in Vizianagaram,he said that thousands of Congress leaders and activists are keen to return to the party fold, and this was evident during his week-long visit to various Assembly constituencies in Vizianagaram district.

“The party is alive at ground level. It is a good sign for the Congress which would regain its glory very soon,” he added.

Related to the selection of the District Congress Committee President, Mr. Das said that he has received eight applications. The AICC high command will finalise the name after considering the candidates’ track records and their contribution to the party over the last 11 years.
