The oilpalm processing unit established at Narmeta in Siddipet district by the State Government would be inaugurated by Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy on March 22, Minister for Agriculture Tummala Nageswara Rao said here on Tuesday.

In a meeting with the officials, the Minister said the capacity of the unit would be crushing (oil extraction) 120 tonnes of oilpalm bunches an hour. He stated that two such processing units set up by the TG-Oilfed were already functioning in Bhadradri-Kothagudem district.

The Narmeta unit in Nangunur mandal of Siddipet district was established with a cost of about ₹300 crore and its initial crushing capacity would be 30 tonnes per hour, which would be enhanced to 120 tonnes gradually. The Agriculture and allied Departments would conduct a rythu mela at Narmeta for three days from March 20 to 22 coinciding with the unit’s inauguration.
