Chief Minister M.K. Stalin on Tuesday (November 25, 2025) countered claims that Tamil Nadu was losing potential investments to other States.
“Those who are spreading false information that investments are going to other States are doing so because they cannot bear seeing the growth of Tamil Nadu and the investments it has received in the past four years. The State is attracting investments amid intense competition from other States and even countries such as Vietnam and Thailand,” he said at the TNRising Conclave in Coimbatore.
The Chief Minister said the investments that come to Tamil Nadu are those that would benefit the State and create jobs. “There is a focus on every district,” he said.
At the conclave, 111 memoranda of understanding (MoUs) were signed for cumulative investments worth ₹42,792 crore, and 47 MoUs were signed by micro, small, and medium enterprises to bring in investments worth ₹1,052 crore. Some of the major investors are Lakshmi Machine Work (₹1,050 crore), CRI Pumps (₹2,060 crore), Sakthi Aircraft Industry (₹500 crore), and Propel (₹650 crore).
Mr. Stalin said a large number of companies choose Tamil Nadu for investments owing to the availability of a skilled workforce, transparency, cordial business environment, and law and order. “Those who do not like to see the growth of Tamil Nadu are giving false numbers and news about the State for political reasons,” he said.
Conversion rate
He said Tamil Nadu had 62,413 companies before his party, the DMK, came to power in 2021, but now, there were 79,135 companies in the State. “Other States conduct investor summits and sign MoUs. When investor summits are held in Tamil Nadu, the conversion rate is 80%, which is far higher than that of other States,” he said.
Mr. Stalin said that when he visited the U.S., the UAE, Singapore, Germany and the U.K., he met top industrialists and invited them to invest in Tamil Nadu. In 17 investor summits conducted in the last four years, 1,016 MoUs were signed — 2.5 times more than the agreements signed by the previous government. These MoUs will bring investments worth ₹11.40 lakh crore and create 34 lakh direct and indirect jobs. The government also supported innovative ideas of the youth, and held the Startup Summit in Coimbatore last year that drew participants from more than 45 countries. The State now had 12,663 startups, when compared to 2,146 startups in May 2021, he said.
Mr. Stalin said the Tamil Nadu government was providing incentives to support innovation and make the State a capital for research and development. There was also a scheme to support research and development.
He assured the industries in Coimbatore that his government would always work for their growth. The Coimbatore region supported the DMK in the Lok Sabha election, and should do so in the next Assembly election, he said.
Minister for Industries T.R.B. Rajaa told the media that TNRising meetings were held in Thoothukudi and Hosur, and one would be held in Madurai soon. There will be another major investment soon for Coimbatore. The uniqueness about the TNRising Conclave in Coimbatore is the large number of investments from the local industries. “This indicates the growing trust of the regional industries in the government. They are self-made industries, and were reluctant to approach the government. Now, that has been addressed. Technical textiles is taking off in the State with MoUs signed for that,” he said.
