Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy warned senior officials against showing negligence in the implementation of government schemes and developmental programmes, and that laxity on their part would not be tolerated.
“No one should take unilateral decisions that could bring disrepute to the government. All departments must work in coordination and give top priority to decisions and programmes that benefit the public,” he said.
The Chief Minister announced that henceforth, both the Chief Secretary and officials in the Chief Minister’s Office (CMO) must submit weekly reports on their respective departments directly to him. He said he would personally review the progress of all government schemes to ensure timely implementation and accountability.
He expressed these views at a review meeting at his residence on Saturday with Chief Secretary Ramakrishna Rao and officials from the Chief Minister’s Office.
The Chief Minister expressed dissatisfaction that even after two years of the ‘people’s government’ assuming office, there was no visible change in the functioning of certain officials. He advised officers to shed their complacency and work with renewed commitment.
Mr. Revanth Reddy further directed all departmental secretaries to immediately initiate steps to secure pending grants and funds under centrally-sponsored schemes. He advised that priority be given to projects where the release of Central funds depends on the State’s contribution.
The Chief Minister instructed the Chief Secretary to obtain regular progress reports from all departments and review the status of works periodically. He also directed CMO officials to bring to his notice any issues requiring immediate government intervention. “Files and projects should not be allowed to remain pending at any level,” he cautioned.
