The Department of Chemistry at Christian College, Chengannur, in association with the Intellectual Property Rights Information Centre-Kerala (IPRIC-K), recently organised a workshop titled Your Ideas, Your Right: A Workshop on Intellectual Property Protection.

The event aimed to raise awareness about Intellectual Property Rights (IPR) and inspire students and faculty to innovate responsibly and ethically. The technical sessions featured three distinguished experts. Jippu Jacob, Emeritus Professor and the inventor of coconut dehusking machine Keramithra, shared his journey in developing the equipment. Manju A. B. from Altacit Global elaborated on how copyrights and trademarks protect creative works and brand identity, helping innovators commercialise their ideas effectively.

Vidyasree P.J., project associate, KSCSTE, provided practical insights into patent filing procedures and clarified which types of inventions are considered non-patentable under Section 3 of the Act.
