Chittoor police organised an overnight village interaction programme as part of district-wide community outreach initiative ‘Palle Nidra’, at Ammepalli village in Puthalapattu mandal on Friday night.

The programme was conducted by Circle Inspector (Puthalapattu) D. Gopi, monitored by Superintendent of Police (SP) Tushar Dudi and Additional SP Rajasekhar. Nearly 200 villagers and school children from Rangampeta participated in the programme.

Interacting with the villagers, the police officials said that the initiative was organised to strengthen police-public relations, enhance rural safety awareness, and build community trust.

Mr. Gopi explained the objectives of the ‘Dhairya Sparsha’ programme and urged residents to inform the police about vulnerable locations or suspicious activities in their areas. He elaborated on the prevention of crimes against women and children, complaint procedures, and avenues for immediate assistance.

Awareness was also raised on cybercrime precautions, safe social media usage, and secure online financial transactions. The harmful effects of drug abuse, the legal implications of child marriage, and the importance of adhering to the lawful marriage age were highlighted.

The police further spoke on road safety measures, including the use of helmets and seatbelts, speed control, and avoiding drunk driving. The benefits of installing CCTV cameras in villages were also explained.
