The Bengaluru City Police Commissionerate has distributed incentive awards totalling ₹58.30 lakh to 274 children of police officers and personnel for the academic year 2025-26, recognising their academic achievements and encouraging them to pursue higher education.

Police Commissioner Seemant Kumar Singh distributed the awards at a programme held at the Bengaluru City Police Commissioner’s Office on Wednesday.

Of the beneficiaries, 69 students who secured 90% or more marks in the SSLC examination and 74 students who achieved the same benchmark in the PU examination received incentive awards of ₹10,000 each.

The remaining 131 beneficiaries were students pursuing higher education in various disciplines, including bachelor’s and master’s degree programmes, engineering, law and medicine.

According to the police, the awards were distributed from the Police Welfare Fund to recognise academic excellence among the children of police personnel and provide financial encouragement for their continued education.

The incentive amounts varied according to the course pursued. Students pursuing bachelor’s degrees received ₹20,000 each, while those studying for master’s degrees received ₹30,000. The engineering and LLB students were awarded ₹40,000 each, while medical students received ₹50,000. Students pursuing advanced courses, including MD, MS and MDS, were also covered under the scheme.

The initiative is aimed at supporting the educational aspirations of the police families and motivating children to excel academically.
