The Central government has agreed to release crop insurance premiums of ₹1,900 crore that remained unpaid between 2019 and 2024 in instalments, and these funds would be credited directly into the farmers’ accounts, Andhra Pradesh Agriculture Minister K. Atchannaidu said in a release on Saturday.

Mr. Atchannaidu said the State got a positive response when he met Union Agriculture Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan recently and explained the issues being faced by farmers and outlined the steps being taken by the State government to secure the release of pending insurance funds.

He emphasised that the coalition government was systematically resolving the problems farmers have been facing due to the failures of the YSRCP government and working with utmost sincerity to ensure that they (the farmers) received their benefits to which they were entitled in a timely manner.

The Minister expressed gratitude to the Central government for its positive response to the farmers’ issues and cooperation in releasing the insurance funds.
