The Killai police have booked a case against a person and his minor son for allowing the latter to drive a motorcycle without a license, and causing an accident.

Police said the boy was riding the two-wheeler in a negligent manner on January 1, when he hit a 63-year-old woman who was walking on the road. He lost control of the vehicle and dashed against an electric post. Both the woman and the minor sustained injuries. They were rushed to the Cuddalore Government General Hospital and referred to Jawaharlal Institute of Postgraduate Medical Education and Research (Jipmer).

The police registered a case against the boy and his father under four sections of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita. Superintendent of Police S. Jeyakumar has advised parents not to allow their children to drive two-wheelers to avoid penal action. He said that provisions imposing a fine of ₹25,000 and three months imprisonment would be invoked against such parents.
