A 13-year-old boy drowned after slipping into a water storage point at Keerthivanam inside the Forest Academy on Sunday evening. The Petbasheerbad police booked a case.

The deceased has been identified as Nagesh, a Class V student of Shantinikethan School in Jeedimetla and a resident of Dulapally.

According to the officials, the boy had visited the place along with two friends from his village when the incident occurred.

Police said the boys were playing near a water storage structure when Nagesh accidentally slipped and fell in. Locals rushed to the spot and, with the help of emergency services, shifted him to a private hospital, where doctors declared him brought dead.

A case has been registered and further investigation is underway to ascertain the circumstances leading to the incident.
