Bangalore Water Supply and Sewerage Board (BWSSB) said it has replaced 100 m of 40-year-old corroded pipeline in Lingarajapuram that was leading to water contamination in record 24 hours on Wednesday.

Following a lane reporting a contaminated water supply last week, BWSSB deployed robotic technology to pinpoint the source of contamination. Using it, the Board identified that the four-decade-old pipeline had corroded and that was leading to contamination. Following this, the Board took up work to replace the pipeline completed on Wednesday.

Of the 19 houses that were affected because of this contamination, new connections were provided to 14 houses in the lane on Wednesday, and work was on to do the same for the remaining five houses. The Board said this would be completed by Thursday.
