BRS and BJP have an adhesive bond: Revanth Reddy

Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy on Thursday accused the Bharat Rashtra Samithi and the Bharatiya Janata Party of having an understanding much like an ‘adhesive’ bond, and maintained that neither had carried out development in the Jubilee Hills Assembly constituency.

Mr. Reddy, flanked by Congress candidate V. Naveen Yadav, Rajya Sabha member Anil Yadav, Cabinet Minister Mohammad Azharuddin, and TPCC chief Mahesh Kumar Goud, was addressing a public meeting Borabanda.

The CM said that while the BRS was in power for 10 years, that party had failed to tackle civic issues in areas such as Borabanda. He sought to know how the same party could now claim it would bring about changes there. Mr Reddy also criticised Union Minister G Kishan Reddy, and said that he did not bring funds from the Union government to improve the constituency during his tenure. He accused the Union Minister of deliberately neglecting the constituency and further accused him of manufacturing problems.

Turning to Mr. Azharuddin, Mr Reddy asserted that the Congress had kept its promises by making the former a a minister.

He recalled the legacy of the former Congress legislator the late P Janardhan Reddy (PJR) and stated that many residents especially from weaker sections of society continued to remember his work among . He stated that those invoking sentiment today had earlier opposed decisions taken after PJR’s death.

The CM listed measures the Congress government had implemented, including ration cards for low-income families, 200 units of free electricity, and free travel for women aboard buses of the Telangana State Road Transport Corporation. He said that the government had also ensured representation for women in the Cabinet, naming leaders such as Seethakka and Konda Surekha, and had created marketing opportunities for women’s self-help groups.

Appealing to voters to support Congress candidate Naveen Yadav, he said that Mr. Yadav, being a local resident, would be available to address civic issues directly and would work to secure housing under the Indiramma Indlu scheme. He underscored that if the Congress is given a strong mandate development work in the constotuency would be taken up on a large scale.

Referring to a demand to name the Borabanda junction after PJR, the Chief Minister assured that this would be taken up at a ‘Vijaya Yatra’ and the crossroads would be named PJR Junction. He called on voters to ensure a wide winning margin for Mr. Naveen Yadav.
