The Bombay High Court on Thursday (October 8, 2026) heard an appeal from the National Investigation Agency (NIA), which has challenged bail granted to Sachin Waze. Authorities arrested Mr. Waze in connection with the Antilia bomb scare case. The court sought answers from the agency regarding the impact of releasing Waze.

A bench of Justice Girish Kulkarni and Justice Dr. Neela Gokhale noted details from witness statements. The statements showed Mr. Waze travelled in a Mercedes. Justice Kulkarni asked who owned the Mercedes. The Solicitor General confirmed Mr. Waze owned the vehicle. The bench noted Mr. Waze possessed five cars — including BMW, Mercedes, and Volvo — while questioning his salary of ₹90,000. Justice Kulkarni asked how an officer with a salary of ₹90,000 bought these vehicles. He also stated the officer used the car to travel to his office, the office of the Commissioner of Police, and Varsha Bungalow. The Judge said the NIA linked this case to extortion.

Justice Kulkarni also remarked on crimes attributed to a person in uniform. The Judge said the court must consider integrity, conduct, and loyalty to the uniform.

The court imposed conditions on Mr. Waze. The conditions mandated Mr. Waze to stay out of Mumbai and regions until the trial concludes. The Judges asked the Solicitor General how releasing Mr. Waze could prejudice the NIA’s case given the conditions.
