BJP engaging in communal politics instead of dealing with unemployment, inflation, poverty: Tejashwi

The Leader of Opposition in the Bihar Assembly Tejashwi Yadav accused the ruling Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) of engaging in communal politics instead of dealing with critical economic issues, even as he resumed his Bihar Adhikar Yatra from the Sahebpur-Kamal Assembly constituency in Begusarai district on Thursday (September 18, 2025).

Urging the people of Begusarai to vote for the Opposition INDIA bloc to change the face of Bihar, the Rashtriya Janata Dal (RJD) leader promised that if voted to power, he would ensure that young people with degrees would not be left jobless.

“I have seen how educated youths having degrees are roaming on the streets in search of jobs. Our biggest enemies are unemployment, inflation, and poverty. There should be discussion on these issues, but the BJP is engaged in Hindu-Muslim politics, which ultimately leads to riots. Now the BJP is trying to snatch the land of Muslim community through the Waqf Act,” Mr. Yadav said.

Rising crime

Mr. Yadav also alleged that, under the guise of an ongoing land survey, the Bihar government planned to donate poor people’s land to industrialists and the rich. He charged the Nitish Kumar government over the deteriorating law and order situation in the State, claiming that not a single day has passed without murder and other crimes.

Though there is a complete ban on the sale and consumption of liquor in the State, it is available everywhere through home delivery, the RJD leader said. “Liquor mafias are very active and they get the support of the local police. They can dare to supply liquor with the support of the police. Backward, Dalits and Extremely Backward Class (EBC) people are the majority of those behind bars in false liquor cases, but the police cannot touch the rich people,“ he alleged.

‘Double standard politics’

Mr. Yadav also targeted Prime Minister Narendra Modi, saying that he had not come to Bihar to assess the flood situation and meet the flood victims, but only visited the State to seek votes.

“This trend will not continue, he set up factories in Gujarat and wants victory in Bihar. The youths and poor people of Bihar will not accept such double standard politics. We all have to make a new Bihar with new resolutions,” Mr. Yadav said.

The RJD has won the Sahebpur-Kamal seat for the last two terms, and Mr. Yadav declared that the INDIA bloc would win all seven seats in Begusarai district in the upcoming Assembly election.

From Begusarai, the RJD leader went to the Khagaria, Parbatta, and Beldour Assembly constituencies, where he declared that he would serve Bihar as a son not as a leader, expressing confidence that the INDIA bloc was set to form the government in the State. At several stops on his yatra, Mr. Yadav addressed the crowd, standing on top of his modified bus, with state-of-the-art facilities, instead of using a traditional stage.
