After the Supreme Court on Saturday (May 2, 2026) refused to interfere with a Calcutta High Court decision on the deployment of Central government officials for vote counting in West Bengal, the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) accused the Trinamool Congress of misusing the judicial process out of political desperation.

At a press conference, BJP MP and spokesperson Sudhanshu Trivedi said a violence-free election in the State had triggered anxiety within the Trinamool.
