In a significant development aimed at strengthening cultural and spiritual ties with Andhra Pradesh, the Bihar government has allotted 10.11 acres of land to the Tirumala Tirupati Devasthanam (TTD) for the construction of a Sri Venkateswara temple in its capital city of Patna.

The decision marks a major milestone in TTD’s efforts to expand its spiritual footprint across the country.

The TTD for long, has been deliberating with the government’s of various States seeking allotment of land for the construction of Sri Venkateswara temples as part of its efforts to promote Venkateswara Bhakti cult across the country.

The land, located in the prime Mokama Khas area of Patna, has been sanctioned on a 99-year lease for a token annual rent of just ₹1, underscoring the Bihar government’s support for the project.

The formal communication was sent by Bihar Chief Secretary Pratyaya Amrit, in a letter addressed to TTD Chairman B. R. Naidu.

The move has been warmly welcomed by Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu and Minister N. Lokesh who described the initiative as a step toward enriching cultural harmony and providing devotees in eastern India access to the revered deity’s temple.

Expressing gratitude, TTD Chairman B.R. Naidu said the gesture reflects Bihar government’s commitment to promoting cultural inclusivity. He added that a TTD team will soon engage with the Director of the Bihar State Tourism Development Corporation to initiate planning and execute all steps required for the temple’s construction.
