Bihar Chief Minister Samrat Choudhary on Tuesday (September 15, 2026) transferred ₹579.23 crore in relief to the bank accounts of 8.27 lakh flood-affected families in the State.

The families were provided ₹7,000 each under the relief assistance, officials said.

The amount was transferred at a function held in Patna to flood-affected people of 15 districts, they said.

Around 49.72 lakh people have been affected by floods, with several rivers in spate following torrential rainfall over the last two to three days, according to a statement issued by the Disaster Management Department.

CM Choudhary also directed the DMs of the affected districts to prepare detailed reports on the damage caused by the floods ahead of Union Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan’s visit on Wednesday (September 16). A central team led by Mr Chouhan will visit the State to assess the flood situation.

The Chief Minister reiterated that the State government was making sustained efforts to find a permanent solution to Bihar’s recurring flood problem.
