The Karnataka Examinations Authority (KEA) has clarified that all government, management, NRI, dental, medical, and AYUSH course seats in Karnataka will be allotted only through the KEA counselling process.
KEA Executive Director H. Prasanna urged students and parents not to believe fraudulent claims made by individuals promising to secure medical seats outside the official process.
He said KEA has received complaints about people claiming they can arrange management and NRI quota seats. While private medical colleges have the authority to fix the fees for management and NRI quota seats, they have no authority to allot them. Seat allotment, including management and NRI seats, will be carried out exclusively through KEA. Anyone claiming otherwise is attempting to mislead and cheat candidates, he said.
Mr. Prasanna explained that 15% of seats in government medical colleges are allotted through the National Medical Commission (NMC) at the national level, while the remaining 85% are allotted through KEA. He added that 100% of seats in private medical colleges and private universities in Karnataka are also allotted through KEA.
He reiterated that medical seat allotment will be based strictly on candidates’ NEET ranks obtained in the examination conducted by the National Testing Agency (NTA). Once KEA receives the official NEET data, it will release a link enabling candidates to link their NEET roll number with their CET application. After the NEET rank is integrated, candidates must download their verification slip.
The State medical counselling process will begin only after NMC announces the national counselling schedule. Until then, students and parents are advised to refer to previous years’ seat allotment data available on the KEA portal to assess their admission prospects based on their NEET rank.
After receiving the NEET data, KEA will publish the State merit list of candidates with Karnataka domicile in ascending order of rank. Candidates who have not yet applied for medical courses will be given another opportunity to submit their applications, and their document verification will also be conducted as per a schedule to be announced shortly.
Regarding pharmacy courses, Mr. Prasanna said the seat matrix is yet to be received. Once it is available, candidates will be allowed to enter their options before the second round of seat allotment. He also advised students seeking admission to medical and pharmacy courses to choose Choice-2 if they are allotted a seat in the first round but wish to participate in subsequent rounds for a better college or course.
