Bengal government transfers 108 police inspectors

The West Bengal Government on Friday (July 3, 2026) transferred 108 police inspectors across the State in a routine administrative exercise aimed at improving policing and public service, officials said.

According to an order by the police directorate, inspectors serving in district police units, detective branches, traffic wings, the CID, the SCRB, the GRP and several commissionerates have been transferred to new assignments with immediate effect.

Among the transfers, Chandra Sekhar Ghosal, who was serving as an inspector in the Purba Medinipur district intelligence branch, has been posted as inspector-in-charge of Digha police station, while Kamtan Roy moves from Digha PS to the DIB in the same district.

Traffic Inspector Manoj Kumar Jha has been posted as inspector-in-charge of Contai police station, while Debasish Sarkar has been posted as traffic inspector in Purba Medinipur.

The reshuffle also includes postings in Paschim Medinipur, Hooghly Rural, Bashirhat, Howrah Rural, Barrackpore, Diamond Harbour, Ranaghat, Alipurduar, Dakshin Dinajpur and several other police districts.

“These are routine transfers ordered in the interest of public service. The officers concerned have been asked to join their new places of posting immediately,” a State government official said.
