Following questions raised over the fate of the 15 lakh saplings Bangalore Development Authority (BDA) planted on June 27, on the occasion of Kempegowda Jayanti, the Authority has now called a short-term tender to create a website to provide live updates on the maintenance of the saplings to the public.
“To ensure transparency in the maintenance of the 1.5 million native saplings planted under BDA’s plantation drive on 27 June 2026, and to provide the public with accurate, real-time information on the status of the maintenance initiative, the BDA has invited short-term tenders for the development of a Post-Event Website,” the BDA said on social media platform X on Friday.

They said 279 sites were thriving while 27 sites were distressed. All saplings are geotagged for the Guinness Record, and these sites are adopted by NGOs and other institutions for maintenance for three years.
The tender document accessed by The Hindu said the contractor who bags the tender has to re-launch the event website – https://greenbengalurubybda.in/, centred around accountability and ongoing care, publish a weekly, per-site maintenance record with sapling-health tracking, run a public complaint and resolution loop.
The new portal should also manage a community engagement and contribution platform where institutions can adopt a planting site, volunteer weekly, contribute native saplings/seeds/compost, mark a special day by planting, and book education tours. They should also create a dashboard with specific logins for officers and NGOs who have adopted the planting sites.
