Nandamuri Basavataraka Rama Rao Memorial Cancer Foundation chairperson Nandamuri Balakrishna said the construction of Basavatarakam Indo American Cancer Hospital and Research Institute (BIACH&RI) at Thullur in Guntur district would begin in a week.

Addressing a gathering after launching new equipment at the BIACH&RI in Hyderabad on Wednesday (April 1), Mr. Balakrishna said the BhumiPuja for the hospital in Thullur had already been done and the works would begin in a week.

He said the BIACH&RI has grown into one of the country’s best hospitals offering services in a single specialisation (oncology) with valuable support from donors.

The Nandamuri Basavataraka Rama Rao Memorial Cancer Foundation was establishing a cancer hospital in Thullur to provide quality oncology treatment to the needy in Andhra Pradesh, he said, thanking everyone who made their contributions.

The hospital-cum-research institute is being constructed on 21 acres and will have 500 beds in the first phase to give integrated care to patients, including prevention, early detection, treatment and rehabilitation.
