Singing of Vachanas in chorus, colourful processions carrying bundles of Vachanas to emphasise the significance of 12th century social revolution, motorcycle rallies, religious and cultural programmes marked the Basava Jayanti celebrations in the districts of Dharwad, Haveri, Gadag, Uttara Kannada and Davangere districts on Monday.
Scores of people, including Ministers, political leaders, officials, seers and members of various organisations such as Basava Kendras, took turns to garland the statues of the 12th century social reformer Basavanna (Basaveshwara).
