NTR Police Commissioner S.V. Rajasekhar Babu launched the ‘Cyber Suraksha’ programme aimed at checking cyberfrauds, here on Monday.
Speaking on the occasion, he said that cyber offenders were throwing a challenge to the police and cybercrimes can be prevented if the bankers were alert.
Police stepped up vigil at banks and other financial institutions through CCTVs, suspicious transactions and accounts to check online frauds. However, criminals were resorting to offences on the name of digital arrests, posing as ED, CBI and police officers, said the Police Commissioner.
“Cybercrimes are occurring due to the negligence of some bank officers and staff. The NTR Police Commissionerate has designed ‘Cyber Suraksha’, a month-long drive for bankers and customers to check online frauds,” said the police officers of various wings, who attended the programme.
“The month-long programme will be conducted in 227 banks in NTR Police Commissionerate,” Mr. Rajashekar Babu said.
