Shri Ram Janmabhoomi Teerth Kshetra Trust, which runs the Ram temple in Ayodhya, has invited applications for the post of Chief Executive Officer (CEO) to oversee the administration and management of the temple.

According to the eligibility criteria issued by the Trust on its social media handles and website, applicants must be graduates from a recognised university and should have at least 20 years of experience in administration or finance.

“The applicant must be an actively practising Hindu. Being a Ram devotee belonging to the Vaishnava tradition shall be considered desirable,” the application notification reads.

Apart from professional qualifications, the Trust has also laid down personal attributes expected of the CEO. The successful candidate should possess integrity, honesty, strong managerial and leadership skills.

The appointment will initially be for a period of three years, and the selected candidate will be required to reside in Ayodhya during the tenure. The CEO will be responsible for the day-to-day administration of the Ram Temple, implementation of the Trust’s decisions, supervision of staff, coordination of religious and civic activities, and ensuring the smooth functioning of the temple complex.

A search committee constituted by the Trust will scrutinise the applications and interview shortlisted candidates before making its recommendation. The committee is expected to complete the selection process within a month after the application deadline, that is July 18.

This came at a time when the appointment of a CEO for the Ram Temple had drawn public attention after donation theft came to light. The Vishva Hindu Parishad (VHP) has maintained that while it is not opposed to the appointment of a CEO, the selection should be made independently by the temple trust rather than by the government. It has also objected to suggestions that the post should necessarily be filled by a retired bureaucrat, saying the Trust alone should decide the qualifications and selection process.
