At least four prominent private schools in Gurugram received bomb threats via emails on Wednesday (January 28, 2026) morning, prompting the school authorities to suspend classes for the day.

“Many schools have received threat emails. The police teams, dog squads and bomb detection squads have been rushed to the affected schools. A First Information Report (FIR) is being registered in this connection,” Gurugram Police spokesperson Sandeep Kumar said.

The communication from Heritage Xperiential Learning School in Sector 62, one of the schools to receive the threat email, to the parents, said: “In the early hours of the morning, the school received a couple of threats via email. Acting immediately and in keeping with our unwavering commitment to the safety of our students and staff, we took the precautionary decision to suspend school operations for the day.”

It added that the matter was promptly reported, and a thorough assessment was being conducted by the police and concerned security agencies. The Grade XII Board Practical examination in the school scheduled for Wednesday (January 28, 2026) were also postponed.

The students picked up by school buses were dropped back home and the parents were requested to pick up the students dropped by personal transport causing panic. The school authorities, however, assured parents that the students would be take care of till the time the parents come to pick them up.

“Police teams conducted a thorough search of the school premises, classrooms, buildings, and surrounding areas. No suspicious objects or explosive materials have been found during the search so far. Currently, various teams of Gurugram Police are seriously investigating the entire matter. The help of cyber experts is being sought to verify the authenticity of the email, its source, and the identity of the sender. The law and order situation is completely under control, and there is no need to panic,” the Gurugram Police said in a press statement.

The bomb threats to Gurugram schools came close on the heels of similar threats to several private schools in Uttar Pradesh’s Noida in the past week.
