Postal voting for senior citizens aged 85 and above, and persons with benchmark disabilities will be conducted across all 16 Assembly constituencies in Chennai district from Thursday (April 16, 2026) to Saturday (April 18, 2026), ahead of the Assembly election.

A total of 8,947 voters who opted for home voting through Form 12D will be covered under the exercise. Polling will be held between 9 a.m. and 5 p.m. at the residences of the voters, according to a press release.

Meanwhile, the Election Commission of India (ECI) started distributing Voter Information Slips (VIS) for the upcoming Assembly elections. The process is currently underway in Tamil Nadu and West Bengal, where Phase 1 polling is set to take place on April 23. Follow the live for more updates
