The A.P. State Council of Higher Education (APSCHE) is organising a five-day Faculty Development Programme (FDP) on ‘Discipline-Specific Applications of Artificial Intelligence (AI)’ for faculty members of degree and professional colleges in Andhra Pradesh from March 2.

The event will take place at the Executive Education Cell, School of Management Studies, University of Hyderabad. The FDP is being conducted in collaboration with Andhra University, Visakhapatnam, and the Commissionerate of Collegiate Education, Andhra Pradesh, with financial support from Rashtriya Uchchatar Shiksha Abhiyan (RUSA).

A statement issued by APSCHE Secretary B. Tirupati Rao on Saturday (February 28) said the programme aims to build conceptual clarity and practical understanding of Artificial Intelligence among faculty members across diverse academic disciplines, in alignment with NEP-2020 and the vision of Viksit Bharat 2047.

This intensive training programme is designed to equip teachers with discipline-specific, no-code and low-code AI applications, enabling them to integrate AI tools and data-driven approaches into teaching, research and curriculum delivery. The FDP covers multiple academic streams, including Commerce and Management, Life Sciences, Physical Sciences, Social Sciences and Humanities and Computer Science–allied disciplines.

The programme structure includes theory sessions, hands-on lab activities, case studies and tool-based demonstrations, focussing on key areas such as AI ecosystem, platforms and Edge AI, data types, repositories, ethics and responsible AI; AI data pipelines: collection, annotation, cleaning and preprocessing; AI applications in agriculture, biotechnology, ecology, commerce, finance, HR, marketing, public policy, arts and sciences; Practical exposure to widely used AI tools and public datasets without requiring coding expertise.

This FDP is designed to empower faculty members of degree and professional colleges across Andhra Pradesh with cutting-edge AI tools, real-world applications, and interdisciplinary insights bridging science, technology and pedagogy. About 200 faculty members will be trained in the University of Hyderabad.

APSCHE reaffirmed its commitment to capacity-building of faculty members, promoting future-ready higher education and fostering AI literacy across disciplines to prepare students for emerging technological and societal challenges.
