Apollo Hospitals, Chennai, has completed more than 50 liver transplants under the Chief Minister’s Comprehensive Health Insurance Scheme (CMCHIS), benefiting patients from underserved socio-economic groups across Tamil Nadu.

Patients who underwent the procedure  were felicitated, with their experiences highlighting the role of CMCHIS in making high-end transplant care accessible. The hospital said the outcomes reflected the importance of Tamil Nadu’s organ donation framework, along with Apollo’s clinical expertise and multidisciplinary approach to transplant care.

‘Care for all’

Health Minister Ma. Subramanian said that the achievement underscored the role of public-private partnerships in extending advanced medical care to all sections of society.

Sindoori Reddy, Director, Strategy, Apollo Hospitals Group, said, “This milestone reaffirmed Apollo’s core belief that world-class healthcare must be within the reach of every individual. The CMCHIS has been a true lifeline, enabling patients from socio-economically challenged backgrounds to access complex, high-cost procedures like liver transplantation.”

‘High success rate’

Elankumaran K., Head of Liver Diseases and Transplantation Institute and Senior Consultant, Liver Transplant and HPB Surgery, Apollo Hospitals, Greams Lane, said consistently high success rates, even in the most complex cases, reflected the hospital’s commitment to excellence and innovation in transplant care.
