Andhra Pradesh Congress Committee vice-president Kolanukonda Shivaji on Sunday demanded that the money allegedly misappropriated from the Tirumala Tirupati Devasthanams during the YSRCP government be recovered from those responsible, including the then Chairman, officials and their personal assistants.

In a statement, Mr. Shivaji alleged that between 2019 and 2024, about 60 lakh kg of adulterated ghee, prepared without the use of proper dairy inputs such as milk or butter, was utilised in the preparation of nearly 20 crore laddu prasadam. He said the Special Investigation Team report had revealed that chemicals were mixed with palm oil to adulterate the ghee, resulting in the illegal diversion of around ₹250 crore of devotees’ funds. The investigating team, he added, had established that the adulterated ghee was directly used in the preparation of laddu prasadam.

Accusing the then Chairman, officials and their personal staff of misusing their authority and positions to indulge in large-scale irregularities at Tirumala, Mr. Shivaji demanded that the government immediately initiate recovery proceedings under the Revenue Recovery Act to reclaim the misappropriated funds from all those who held positions of authority between 2019 and 2024.
