The All India Trinamool Congress (AITC) State committee has disassociated itself from State convener P.V. Anvar’s purported efforts to enter the United Democratic Front (UDF).

In a statement issued here on Wednesday, AITC State president C.G. Unni clarified that the speculation regarding Mr. Anvar possibly joining the UDF was in no way connected to the Trinamool Congress.

“The political agenda of the Trinamool Congress is determined and executed by the party’s national leadership. No individual has been given permission to engage in talks with any political front,” Mr. Unni said.

He added that Mr. Anvar was not associated with the Trinamool Congress in Kerala.

“The Trinamool will contest the upcoming Assembly and Lok Sabha elections in Kerala as part of our effort to regain the national party status we once held,” he said.

Mr. Unni said that neither Kerala Pradesh Congress Committee (KPCC) president Sunny Joseph nor Indian Union Muslim League (IUML) national general secretary P.K. Kunhalikutty was assigned any role in formulating the agenda of the Trinamool Congress.

Mr. Joseph, in a media interview, had indicated that Congress would consider including Mr. Anvar in the UDF.
