Andhra State 1st Ranking Carrom Tournament–2026 (Men & Women) has commenced at Nellore Club in Nellore on Friday (July 31, 2026). MLA Kotamreddy Sridhar Reddy inaugurated the event and made the ceremonial opening strike on the carrom board.
Addressing the gathering, the MLA said that the Government of Andhra Pradesh is giving high priority to the development of sports and is providing cash incentives of up to ₹10 lakh to outstanding sportspersons.
He encouraged the players to make the best use of these opportunities and bring laurels to the State at the national and international levels. Under the supervision of the Andhra State Carrom Association (ASCA), District Carrom Association is organising the three-day championship.
Malireddy Kotareddy, Tournament Co-Chairman and former Ranji Cricketer, emphasised that discipline, dedication and continuous practice are keys to success in sports. He urged young players to set high goals and strive for excellence.
Shaik Abdul Jaleel, General Secretary of the ASCA stated that nearly 200 players from different districts are competing in the tournament. He announced that the top six players in the Men’s and Women’s categories will be selected to represent the State team in the national-level competitions.
