BJP Member of Parliament from Rajamahendravaram D. Purandeswari has said Andhra Pradesh will lose five Lok Sabha seats purely on the basis of population if delimitation is taken up after the 2026-27 Census, following the defeat of the Constitution (131st Amendment) Bill, 2026, in Parliament last week.

Referring to the defeat of the Bill, Ms. Purandeswari told reporters in Rajamahendravaram on Tuesday (April 21, 2026) that “Andhra Pradesh will gain from the delimitation formula of Home Minister Amit Shah”. “The amendment Bill with the delimitation package is a real tribute to Dr. B.R. Ambedkar,” she said.
