Members of the Andhra Pradesh Lorry Owners’ Association (APLOA) on Friday (May 15, 2026) announced their support for the proposed nationwide “Truck Chakka Jam” agitation, scheduled from May 21 to 23, 2026, with participation from transport organisations across 62 regions of the country. The protest is being organised under the leadership of the Diesel-National Committee (DNC) and the guidance of the All India Motor Transport Congress (AIMTC).

In a statement, vice-president (South Zone) of AIMTC and State general secretary of APLOA Y.V. Eswara Rao said the key issues troubling the transport sector included a sharp increase in charges for obtaining or renewing the Environmental Compensation Certificate (ECC), with light goods vehicles being charged ₹2,000 and heavy goods vehicles ₹4,000; the government’s proposal to make fitness tests for diesel vehicles mandatory every four years from November 1, 2026; and the requirement for mandatory ECC tests for Euro-6 vehicles as well.

Alleging that these policies were severely burdening the transport sector and lorry owners financially, he said the AIMTC had decided to intensify the agitation, and as part of this nationwide protest, lorry owners, transport operators and allied sector associations across the country would participate in the “Truck Chakka Jam”.

Mr. Eswara Rao urged all transport organisations, lorry owners, drivers and workers to extend full support and participate actively in the “Truck Chakka Jam” protest programme.
