Amid Statewide protests over alleged work pressure faced by booth level officers (BLOs), an anganwadi teacher serving as a BLO reportedly collapsed during Special Intensive Revision (SIR)-related duties in Balal panchayat in Kasaragod, Kerala, on Monday (November 17, 2025) morning.

N. Sreeja (45) an anganwadi teacher at Maikayam, Malom and BLO in the Kanhangad Assembly constituency, reportedly fell ill and collapsed while carrying out SIR work at a house. She was rushed to a private hospital in Konnakkad, where she is undergoing treatment. Her condition is reported to be improving.

Vellarikundu tahsildar Muraleedharan, the local village officer, and other revenue officials visited her at the hospital. Hospital authorities said Ms. Sreeja’s health was satisfactory.

The incident comes in the backdrop of mounting protests across Kerala following the death of a BLO in Kannur district that has renewed scrutiny of work pressure faced by BLOs.
