A five-member team from the All India Institute of Medical Sciences (AIIMS), New Delhi, visited the State-run Sri Jayadeva Institute of Cardiovascular Sciences and Research here on Friday and reviewed patient care services, treatment protocols, and overall administration at the tertiary cardiac institute.
During the visit, the team inspected the outpatient and inpatient sections, intensive care units, cardiac surgery department, cath labs, laboratories, and support services, including the Central Sterile Supply Department (CSSD) and laundry. The officials took note of the patient flow, hygiene practices, and unit-wise functioning across the facility.
After the inspection, AIIMS Director M. Srinivas said Jayadeva had emerged as one of the country’s busiest cardiac centres with close to 1,800–2,000 outpatients daily. “The culture of this institution is its biggest strength,” he said, describing Jayadeva as an internationally recognised centre for cardiac care. He commended the institute for clean premises, streamlined systems and patient satisfaction, and congratulated its director, B. Dinesh.
Dr. Srinivas said AIIMS would consider adopting some of Jayadeva’s best practices. He invited the Jayadeva team to visit AIIMS to study its systems, including robotic surgery and AI-enabled procedures, and offered training and knowledge exchange for specialists. He added that both institutions would explore collaboration in research.
The visiting team included Professor of Hospital Administration R. Mahesh, Associate Professor Kanika Jain, Additional Professor Akshay Kumar, and Professor of Neurosurgery Vivek Tandon.
