The AIADMK would stage an agitation to condemn the recent remarks reportedly made by TVK MLA M.V. Karuppaiah over jallikattu, party general secretary Edappadi K. Palaniswami announced on Sunday. Mr. Karuppaiah, according to Mr. Palaniswami, had said jallikattu was “ruining the youth of Tamil Nadu.”

In a statement, Mr. Palaniswami recalled the consistent efforts undertaken by the erstwhile AIADMK government to ensure that jallikattu could be organized without any legal hurdle. The agitation would be held in the jallikattu area at Alanganallur on September 3, he said.

Former Ministers Sellur K. Raju and R.B. Udhayakumar and former Madurai Mayor V.V. Rajan Chellappa would lead the agitation organised by the AIADMK on that day.
