The AIADMK remains united and our sole aim is to bring the party back to power, said former Minister and AIADMK Thondamuthur MLA S.P. Velumani on Thursday (May 28, 2026).

Speaking to the media in Coimbatore, he said the party is his breath and that the party’s general secretary is Edappadi K. Palaniswami. He also criticised the media and YouTube channels for creating the impression that a section of MLAs led by him and C.Ve. Shanmugam had supported the TVK for power.

“We chose to support the TVK during the trust vote because it was the will of the people that the party should rule and it had been given a strong mandate,” he said. Even the TVK has made it clear that neither he nor Mr. Shanmugam had made any claims of sharing power with the party.

He added that Mr. Shanmugam was in touch with him. The legislator also made it clear that he and the party would reflect the sentiments of the cadre.

The AIADMK had ruled the State for 31 years but had faced defeat. However, the party should overcome this and return to power. The AIADMK would continue to press for the implementation of the promises made in its election manifesto, he said.
