After mangoes, HOPCOMS plans to deliver fresh vegetables to your doorstep

Offering a service that has become a monopoly of quick-commerce platforms, Horticultural Producers’ Cooperative Marketing and Processing Society (HOPCOMS) is now planning to deliver vegetables and fruits to your doorstep. While it promises quality vegetables and fruits, often a concern on quick commerce platform, HOPCOMS will take 24 hours to do so.

This is being planned through their newly-launched initiative, Farmers’ Post (Raithara Anche), in partnership with India Post. Earlier, Karnataka State Mango Development and Marketing Corporation Limited (KSMDMC) delivered mangoes to people’s doorstep with the help of India Post. Officials at HOPCOMS are currently studying the vegetable market and the kind of vegetables people prefer to consume across Bengaluru.

Mangoes delivered

Vinayak Reddy, General Manager, HOPCOMS Bengaluru, said, “From May 29 to June 23, 2026, we have been able to deliver 936 mango boxes each consisting of three kg mango and over 12 boxes of mixed fruits, especially the imported ones like Apple Gala, South Africa Orange and Pears, Avacado, Litchi fruit, Kiwi and Yelakki Banana. The mixed fruits was added to the initiative in the first week of June 2026. Now, we are planning to deliver fresh vegetables to the doorstep”.

He added, “Currently, we are studying the market trends and what vegetables people in Bengaluru prefer to consume. Once that study is completed, we will launch the delivery of vegetables also through our official website.”

Explaining how HOPCOMS plan to survive in a competitive market where many quick commerce platforms also deliver fruits and vegetables, Amitha Pandey, Technical Coordinator, HOPCOMS, said, “We are not going to compete with these platforms. While we understand that these platforms deliver in less than half an hour and we take 24 hours to deliver, ours are the top quality or first-grade ones. HOPCOMS is known for selling only first-grade vegetables and fruits in their outlets. Besides, we have received a good response from people when we sold mangoes through India Post. We have collected reviews from each customer. The delivery rate to any location is ₹93, which is lower than what is charged when people send documents or articles from one place to another.”

To ensure HOPCOMS gets first-grade products, the officials themselves inspect the vegetables and fruits delivered by farmers, Mr. Vinayak, explained. “Our officials go to APMCs or K.R. Market almost everyday. The auction of vegetables begins at 3 a.m. or 4 a.m. There, we see the prices and quality of vegetables so that we have a clear idea of grades. We pick the first-grade ones and the price fixing committee fixes the price accordingly. First grade ones are those that are uniform in size, have no scars or blemishes, have appealing colours,” he explained.

He also informed that HOPCOMS always pays farmers one or two rupees extra per kg than private traders in the market. “There are around 9,000 farmers registered with HOPCOMS. Usually, farmers sell the remaining second-grade or lower ones to local retailers, APMCs or even mandis.”

Meanwhile, a senior official from India Post said, “We are glad that they chose us to deliver fruits and soon vegetables to people’s doorstep. Unlike other platforms, even if it is one box of fruits, our postmen travel and deliver to the right address.”
