ADGP Amalraj returns as Tambaram Police Commissioner

Additional Director General of Police A. Amalraj has been posted as the Commissioner of Police, Tambaram. He replaces Abhin Dinesh Modak, posted as ADGP Enforcement Bureau CID, Chennai. 

An officer of the 1996-batch of Indian Police Service (IPS), Dr. Amalraj comes with wide-ranging experience in performing a variety of law-enforcement duties. He was the second Commissioner of Tambaram commissionerate, which was inaugurated on January 1, 2022. 

As Inspector General of Police, he has served as Commissioner of Police in Salem, Coimbatore, and Tiruchi. He headed the Central and West Zones of the State police. 

Dr. Amalraj also served in Theni, Madurai, Ramanathapuram, and Salem in different capacities. In Tiruchi, Salem, and Coimbatore, he installed a high-definition CCTV surveillance network, which resulted in crimes dropping by 40%.

He is a recipient of the President’s Medal for Distinguished Service, Police Medal for Meritorious Service, Chief Minister’s Special Performance Medal, and Chief Minister’s Medal for Excellence in Public Service.
