Stage artiste and actor Soby George, accused in multiple cases across the State, was arrested by the Ernakulam Rural police in connection with an alleged cheque bounce case on Tuesday (March 24).
According to the Oonnukal police, the accused was engaged in fraudulent activities for the past 20 years and had cases, including for hawala transactions, visa fraud, and financial scams, registered against him across stations from Wayanad to Thiruvananthapuram.
A bus that he owned was seized the previous day jointly by the police and the Motor Vehicles department (MVD) officials. Though the tyres were removed to prevent its seizure, it was indeed seized using a crane by officials from the Oonnukal police station and the MVD inspector from the Kothamangalam Joint Regional Transport Officer.
The seizure was linked to a case registered in 2013 in which the accused allegedly cheated a resident of Koonammavu of ₹2.50 lakh by promising his son a job in a supermarket in the United States.
