Popular Tamil actor Vijay is all set to embark on his first state-wide political tour from Tiruchi on Saturday (September 13, 2025), more than a year after floating the Tamilaga Vettri Kazhagam in February 2024.

After two state conferences — at Vikravandi and Madurai — Vijay is now hitting the road, projecting himself as a game changer in the 2026 elections.

In the forenoon, Vijay is set to address a big gathering from a custom-made bus at Marakkadai junction, once a regular public meeting venue but now a congested tri-junction in the old City limits. Interestingly, the venue falls in Tiruchi East Assembly segment, a compact constituency with significant minority population. Speculation is rife among the partymen that it is one of the constituencies that could be considered by the actor to contest from. The seat is currently held by S.Inigo Irudhayaraj of Christhuva Nallenna Iyakkam, who won on the DMK symbol in 2021.

People wait eagerly for the arrival of TVK chief and actor Vijay in Tiruchi on September 13, 2025.

The police had granted permission for the meeting with a set of 23 conditions, drawing sharp criticism from the actor.

Nevertheless, boisterous TVK cadre from different parts of Tiruchi and neighbouring districts have started pouring in to the venue right from morning. Many among them have occupied vantage spots atop buildings and along the route that Vijay will traverse from the airport, hoping to catch a glimpse of the matinee idol.

Later in the day, he will travel to Ariyalur and Perambalur district and is scheduled to speak near the Old Bus Stand in Ariyalur, at Kunnam and at Vanoli Thidal at Perambalur. He is set to tour Nagappatinam, Tiruvarur, and Mayiladuthurai on September 20.

The actor, who took the political plunge at the height of his career, has positioned himself against the politics of ‘corruption’ and ‘divisiveness,’ training his guns against the ruling parties at the Centre and State.

Although he had indicated he was open to power sharing, Vijay is yet to firm up an alliance. However, he had declared that the BJP was TVK’s ideological enemy and the DMK, the political enemy. He had also kept the AIADMK at an arm’s length, the principal opposition in the State.
