Andhra Pradesh government is ready to bear any cost for the benefit of poor students, said State Social Welfare Minister Dola Sree Bala Veeranjaneya Swamy. Along with Markapuram MLA Kandula Narayana Reddy and other local leaders, he made a surprise visit to Dr. B. R. Ambedkar Gurukul School in Veligonda, Prakasam district on Monday (September 08) evening.

The Minister inspected the school premises. Later, he interacted with the students and enquired about their problems. He announced that an additional dormitory will be built for the students at the school premises at a cost of ₹4 crore. He said that the goal of Chief Minister Nara Chandrababu Naidu is to make the poor students of the State rise to a higher level in society.

“After the Coalition government came to power, revolutionary changes were brought in the social welfare department. The repairs were taken up in Gurukul schools and SC welfare hostels at a cost of ₹143 crore. The government is helping the families of students who died of any illness through Swanthana scheme,” he added.

The Swanthana Scheme is a recent initiative of the State government to provide ₹2 lakh to Scheduled Caste (SC) students studying in social welfare gurukuls and hostels for emergency medical expenses. If any SC student dies in unexpected circumstances, an ex-gratia of ₹3 lakh will be provided to the victim’s family.

Dr. Veeranjaneya Swamy expressed his hope that the Gurukul students would study hard and fulfil their parents’ dreams, saying that their government would bear any expenses for them.
