Andhra Pradesh Energy Minister Gottipati Ravi Kumar has asked the Discoms to ensure an uninterrupted power supply to all temples and its surrounding areas across the State during the Maha Sivaratri festival.

In a teleconference with the CMDs of DISCOMs L. Siva Sankar, I. Prudhvi Tej and P. Pulla Reddy and the senior officials on Wednesday, Mr. Ravi Kumar said as a huge number of devotees are expected to visit the Siva temples and other shrines, continuous power supply should be maintained for the smooth conduct of religious programmes and for the convenience of devotees.

He stressed the importance of deploying standby power arrangements wherever required and ensuring 24×7 readiness of O&M teams to promptly resolve any issues.

Further, the Minister directed the officials to carry out preventive maintenance checks of feeders, transformers, and distribution lines to avoid unforeseen breakdowns.

He told the Discoms to put in place immediate restoration mechanisms in case of contingencies and to ensure that field officers remained on high alert at all levels during the festival.
