In an effort to strengthen agricultural branding and rural entrepreneurship, the Madurai Agri Business Incubation Forum (MABIF) — an initiative of NABARD and Tamil Nadu Agricultural University (TNAU) — has opened a Product Promotional Centre (PPC) and Geographical Indication Facilitation Centre (GIFC) at Agriculture College and Research Institute, TNAU Campus, Madurai.

Located opposite the main entrance of AC&RI on the national highway, the PPC is designed as a hub for travellers, consumers and visitors while showcasing Tamil Nadu’s agricultural potential. NABARD has funded the modern Geographical Indication Facilitation Centre, which will promote GI-tagged products, strengthen intellectual property awareness, and build value chains around India’s agricultural heritage.

The centre will serve as a platform for startups, Farmers’ Producer Organizations (FPOs) and GI product manufacturers to display, market, and sell their products—ranging from value-added foods to innovative agri-tech solutions.

The PPC and GIFC are expected to generate direct income for farmers and FPOs by reducing middlemen. It will also provide branding and market access for startups and innovators and promote sustainable rural entrepreneurship through GI-linked products.
