The Legal Coordination Committee for Government Doctors (LCC) has expressed disappointment over the absence of any announcements addressing the long-pending demands of government doctors in the recently concluded Tamil Nadu Legislative Assembly session.

In a statement, the committee urged Chief Minister M.K. Stalin to deliver on promises made to the medical fraternity, especially those concerning salary revisions and staffing shortages.

The LCC highlighted that 19,000 government doctors of the State have stood by the government in every crisis, but continue to work with “heavy hearts” due to unmet assurances. The committee recalled a 2021 promise made before Deepavali to address key issues after the festival.

Key demands include granting payband-4 at 12 years of service, doubling the number of doctors and nurses in government hospitals, and providing a government job to the wife of Vivekanandan, a doctor who died during the COVID-19 pandemic. The LCC said just allocating ₹25 crore per month would resolve the salary issue, calling it an investment in public health.
