TGCHEs roadmap to align with priorities of NEP and Telangana Rising 2047 

The Telangana Council of Higher Education (TGCHE), noting its recent past developments, on Saturday (October 18) announced its roadmap for the next year. While making Telangana a global hub for quality higher education remains the mission, Council Chairman V. Balakista Reddy affirmed that “higher education is moving from quantity to quality – institutions to innovation, and from regulation to facilitation.”

Addressing the media, he said the Council transitioned to the Telangana Council of Higher Education Act, 2024, to establish an independent governance framework. In addition, a revamped digital platform was launched to offer real-time access to academic schedules, examination notifications, and institutional data, to cater to over 187,000 users.

Mr. Reddy said curriculum and skill development underwent an overhaul, to integrate over 20 credits for skill-based courses in areas like AI, cybersecurity, and soft skills. In addition, the Council facilitated partnerships with international institutions, including the University of San Diego and the University of Birmingham to promote research and innovation.

The upcoming initiatives of the TGCHE, he said, will align with national priorities of NEP 2020 and the State’s vision of ‘Telangana Rising 2047’. They include digital transformation of all universities through ERP and academic management systems, establishment of District Skill and Research Centres, promotion of faculty exchange and international mobility programmes, research clusters in frontier areas like AI, biotechnology, and clean energy, and strengthening governance transparency through e-office and RTI awareness drives.
