Members of the Youth Congress, led by unit president Arjun Patil, attempted to lay siege to the RSS office in Hubballi on Saturday. However, the police thwarted their attempt by detaining several of them.

The police had made elaborate security arrangements by barricading the roads leading to the RSS office on Gokul Road well in advance in view of the protest.

The Youth Congress members were stopped near the NWKRTC depot on Gokul Road and were not allowed to proceed further. They raised slogans against RSS, condemned in strong terms the threat call to Minister Priyank Kharge and demanded a ban on RSS.

They entered into an altercation with the police after they were stopped from proceeding further. When they tried to push the barricades and proceed towards the RSS office in Hubballi, the police detained them and took them into preventive custody.

They were taken to the CAR Ground in a bus and were released later.
