Lokayukta officials of Tumakuru district caught the Secretary and bill collector of Thovinakere Gram Panchayat, in Koratagere taluk of Tumakuru district in Karnataka, taking a bribe from a businessman for an official favour.

The accused had allegedly demanded ₹8.000 from T.K. Mohammed, 73, to issue E-swathu (digital database of property ownership in rural areas).

Mr. Mohammed approached the Lokayukta and filed a complaint, based on which the officials caught Suma and her assistant Maruthi red-handed on October 16.

The duo has been booked under Prevention of Corruption Act, and taken into custody for further investigation.
