Lokayukta cracks down on 12 govt. officials across the State

Lokayukta sleuths on Tuesday carried out a series of raids and searches and seized disproportionate movable and immovable property worth over ₹38 crore.

Based on specific intelligence, several teams of officials carried out the raids simultaneously at the houses of officials in and around Bengaluru, Chitradurga, Davanagere, Haveri, Bidar, Udupi, Bagalakote, and Hassan.

The officials also searched residences, offices and residences of the relatives of the accused officers at more than 48 places and recovered movable and immovable properties allegedly disproportionate to the known sources of income of the raided officials

A total of ₹7.32 crore worth assets were seized from V. Sumangala, Director, State School Education, Research and Training, Hosakerehalli, Bengaluru. She is currently under suspension.

During searches at six places belonging to her, the investigators found four sites, five houses and 19 acres of agricultural land, all worth ₹5.08 crore. The rest were movable assets, including ₹22 lakh worth of vehicles and ₹96.73 lakh worth of shares and mutual funds.

The others who were raided are Manjunatha G., Medical Officer, Maternity Hospital, Mallasandra, Bengaluru (₹3.24 crore DA); N.K. Gangamarigowda, Surveyor, KIADB, Bengaluru (₹4.66 crore); N. Chandrashekar, Assistant Director, Agriculture, Holalkere, Chitradurga (₹5.14 crore); Jagadeesh Nayka K.H., Assistant Engineer, KRIDL, Davanagere (₹2.04 crore); B.S. Naduvina Mane, Junior Assistant, the Department of Food, Civil Supplies & Consumer Affairs, Davanagere (₹2.30 crore); Basavesh Shivappa Shidenur, Incharge EO, Savanuru Taluk Panchayath, Haveri (₹1.67 crore); Ashok Shanrappa Araleshwar, Revenue Inspector, Taluk Office, Ranebennuru, Haveri (₹2.25 crore); Dhoolappa, Assistant Director, Horticulture Department, Orad, Bidar (₹3.39 crore); Lakshminarayana P. Nayak, RTO, RTO Office, Udupi (₹2.21 crore); Chethan, Junior Engineer, KBJNL, ARBC, Division-2, Kamatagi, Bagalakote (₹1.67 crore); Jyothi Meri, FDA, Account Section, Health and Family Welfare Department, Hassan (₹2.17 crore)

The officials are further verifying the assets and other documents while registering a case of prevention of corruption against the officials for further investigation.
